POSSESSING YOUR POSSESSION

MEMORISE:

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

Ephesians 1:3

 READ: Deuteronomy 28:1-14.

1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:

2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God.

3 Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field.

4 Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.

5 Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store.

6 Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.

7 The Lord shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways.

8 The Lord shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

9 The Lord shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the Lord thy God, and walk in his ways.

10 And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the Lord; and they shall be afraid of thee.

11 And the Lord shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers to give thee.

12 The Lord shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.

13 And the Lord shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the Lord thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:

14 And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

 MESSAGE:

Our possessions as children of God are multifaceted. When we consider Genesis 1:26, we can see an aspect of our possession- dominion. In other words, it is God’s will for us to be in charge. This is so important that God also made it a point of His blessing to Abraham and his children (Genesis 22:17). Moses blessed the children of Israel in the name of the Lord and said in Deuteronomy 28:13:

“And the Lord shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the Lord thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:”

Why this topic “Possessing your possession” when a possession is already at the person’s disposal? This is particularly a puzzle when we consider Genesis 1:26. The truth of the matter is that man lost this possession to sin and the devil, according to the account of the fall in Genesis 3. Thus, it has to be repossessed. To do this, man needed Someone more powerful than the devil. Glory to God, Jesus came to our rescue. The Bible says

“For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.”  2 Corinthians 8:9

To access the blessing above, you must be a Kingdom child. To be a kingdom child requires a truly repentant heart and acceptance of Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. This connects you with the True Vine in whom you would begin to bear the fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance) as we see in Galatians 5:22-23 and the fruit of souls that will abide in the Kingdom of God (John 15:16).

This is the path towards possessing your possessions (Matthew 6:33) and accessing everlasting life (John 3:16). Walk in it.

 PRAYER POINT:

Father, give me the grace to possess my possession, in Jesus’ name.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: LEVITICUS 11-13.

HYMN 21:  STANDING ON THE PROMISES OF CHRIST MY KING.

1  Standing on the promises of Christ my King,

Through eternal ages let His praises ring,

Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,

Standing on the promises of God.

o    Refrain:

Standing, standing,

Standing on the promises of God my Savior;

Standing, standing,

I’m standing on the promises of God.

2  Standing on the promises that cannot fail,

When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,

By the living Word of God I shall prevail,

Standing on the promises of God.

3  Standing on the promises I now can see

Perfect, present cleansing in the blood for me;

Standing in the liberty where Christ makes free,

Standing on the promises of God.

4  Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,

Bound to Him eternally by love’s strong cord,

Overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword,

Standing on the promises of God.

5  Standing on the promises I cannot fall,

List’ning every moment to the Spirit’s call,

Resting in my Savior as my all in all,

Standing on the promises of God.
