THE WORD ll

MEMORISE:  And the spirit entered into me when he spake unto me, and set me upon my feet, that I heard him that spake unto me. Ezekiel 2:2

READ: Psalms 119:97 -105

97 O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day.

98 Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me.

99 I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation.

100 I understand more than the ancients, because I keep thy precepts.

101 I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep thy word.

102 I have not departed from thy judgments: for thou hast taught me.

103 How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

104 Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.

105 NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

MESSAGE

The word of God sets you on your feet in marriage, ministry, business or whatever endeavour you embark on. John 6:63 says:

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

When you study the word of God and allow it to dwell in you, the Spirit in that word will fill you up. The Spirit will set you on your feet, breathe life into you, and then enable you to do some things that you were unable to do before. The word of God is so complete that whatever you need to get you on your feet in life can be found in it. In the word of God, you will find countless messages for a better marriage, many lessons to help you prosper in your business, academics, politics, relating with people, relating with God and anything relevant to life. Proverbs 2:6 says "For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding".

During the Coronavirus lockdown, someone said he spent his free time studying previous editions of the Open Heavens Devotional and discovered no message had ever been repeated  for the 20 years since we had been writing the devotional. That is because the devotional is a Bible study tool and the wisdom in God's word is inexhaustible.

When l was writing my Ph.D, thesis, l got to a point where l had one hundred and eighty-six simultaneous equations and couldn't find a solution. One fateful day, l got tired of it all. I threw the project aside and picked up my Bible to do some studying. I read the passage where God parted the Red Sea for the Israelites to cross ( Exodus 14) and the Spirit of God spoke to me saying, "That is the solution to your problem". I took up the thesis again and this time around, l divided equations into two categories - one on the left and the other on the right, just as the Red Sea parted to the left and the right. I then solved both categories separately and got my final answer soon afterwards. The word of God set me on my feet academically! When l presented my thesis to the external examiner, he had no questions for me. He only said to the authorities, "Give this young man his Ph.D"!

KEY POINT

Study God's word intensely and by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, He will give you the wisdom you need to stand successfully in every area of life.

BIBILE IN ONE YEAR: Mark 4-5

HYMN 9: I'VE A MESSAGE FROM THE LORD

1 I’ve a message from the Lord, Hallelujah!

The message unto you I’ll give.

’Tis recorded in His Word, Hallelujah!

It is only that you “look and live.”

Refrain:

“Look and live,” my brother, live.

Look to Jesus now and live.

’Tis recorded in His Word, Hallelujah!

It is only that you “look and live.”

2 I’ve a message full of love, Hallelujah!

A message, O my friend, for you.

’Tis a message from above, Hallelujah!

Jesus said it, and I know ’tis true. [Refrain]

3 Life is offered unto you. Hallelujah!

Eternal life your soul shall have

If you’ll only look to Him. Hallelujah!

Look to Jesus, who alone can save. [Refrain]

4 I will tell you how I came, Hallelujah!

To Jesus when He made me whole:

’Twas believing on His name, Hallelujah!

I trusted and He saved my soul. [Refrain]
